Efficient Collaboration with BAU 2025
Yapı - Turkeybuild Istanbul, Türkiye has entered into a significant partnership with BAU 2025. As part of this collaboration, Yapı - Turkeybuild Istanbul participated in the exhibition taking place in Munich from January 13 to 17, 2025 with a dedicated booth. Commenting on BAU 2025, Banu Keskin, Director of Yapı - Turkeybuild Istanbul, stated: “During BAU 2025, we had the opportunity to connect with both potential exhibitors and key buyers. Participating in the BAU Exhibition was the right decision, as it allowed us to engage directly with industry professionals—whom we would typically reach through digital platforms. Visitors to our booth shared firsthand that the international recognition of
Yapı - Turkeybuild Istanbul continues to grow rapidly. At the end of five days, we concluded the event by expanding our existing network. We have already started receiving inquiries from visitors looking to establish new collaborations and make purchases. In fact, we are even receiving emails requesting manufacturer details for specific products. In this regard, Yapı – Turkeybuild Istanbul has once again proven itself as a vital industry bridge, fostering connections and business opportunities across the sector.”

Stating that several developments in 2024 affected the export and import of construction materials, Banu Keskin, Director of Yapı - Turkeybuild Istanbul, said: “In 2024, exports of construction materials decreased by 0.5 percent compared to 2023, totaling $29.03 billion. In 2024, imports decreased by 0.3 percent, totaling $11.31 billion. Overall, both exports and imports experienced only a marginal decline. However, higher exports and imports were recorded in the second half of the year. The tight monetary policies implemented to combat high inflation, along with the contraction in the construction sector, weakened demand for construction materials. The global economic recession and the slowdown in the construction sectors, particularly in key markets such as European countries and the UK, contributed to a decline in material exports. Geopolitical developments also contributed to a slowdown in many traditional export markets. The conflicts in the Middle East, following the Russia-Ukraine war, negatively impacted exports. Exports to Russia and Israel declined with exports to Israel being banned. Middle Eastern markets also experienced a slowdown. In Türkiye, developments following the local elections had an impact. However, uncertainty and volatility in the Turkish lira have decreased due to the decisive implementation of the economic program since the second quarter. However, the Turkish lira began to appreciate, which put a strain on exports. In the third and fourth quarters, a general recovery in exports was observed. Exports increased slightly during these quarters compared to the same periods in the previous year.”
Banu Keskin stated that although there are uncertainties regarding how the import tax policies implemented by the new administration in the USA will impact construction materials and suppliers, it is anticipated that there will be a modest increase in construction material exports in 2025. She added, “With interest rate cuts in developed countries, we expect to see improvements in economic and construction sector expectations in 2025. Accordingly, exports of construction materials are expected to increase by 2-3 percent over the course of the year. Meanwhile, imports of construction materials are projected to decline slightly throughout 2025. Due to the tightening policies implemented in the economy, imports may also be limited in 2025.”
