• In 2016, China’s National Energy Administration Bureau unveiled a national strategic development plan for smart grid usage for the next five years. The plan outlines how the country intends to build a safe and reliable smart grid system that is also efficient and environmentally friendly. Its goal is to form a competitive smart grid system to fulfill growing demands as well as to encourage the development of emerging industries. 


• According to the state grid development plan, China’s electricity consumption will maintain a growth rate of 7.2% and above between 2011 and 2020. It is estimated that by 2020, the total electricity consumption will amount to 8.4 trillion kWh.
