Smart City and Sustainable Mobility Fair

Smart City and Smart Grids. The comparison of the two major subjects that make up the DNA of our salon has never been so obvious. While we are emerging from a situation of acute health crisis, and an economic crisis looming over us, the strong push from environmentalists in the last municipal elections shows that subjects such as energy transition - spearheading the fight against global warming - are more than ever on the agenda of political agendas. The smart city subject is closely associated with this concern, since reducing the energy consumption of cities - and regions - is an objective - and a powerful engine - for this digital transformation. Almost a third of the two large smart city projects that have been the center of attention in France (Dijon and Angers) were financed solely through savings in electricity consumption made on public lighting. In addition, the work of the Citizen's Climate Convention has confirmed this societal expectation to act quickly and vigorously in favor, among other things, of energy transition. An expectation whose echo can only be reinforced by the latest climatic readings: the first half of 2020 was the hottest in France ever recorded since the temperatures were measured with an "anomaly" (deviation from the average) of + 1.8 °. In other words, we will never have known such a synchronization between the societal consciousness of what must be done to preserve the destiny of the planet, the openness and political support to do so, and the technological tools to implement the projects. In addition, there is an essential fuel: that of European investment in a recovery (750 billion euros), which should give pride of place to digital technology and the energy transition.
