The Doha International Book Fair is considered one of the biggest international book fairs held in the region and is having a good reputation because of the huge number from the Arabic, Gulf and foreign countries participating in.



Its first session was in 1972 under the supervision of the Qatari books houses, organized each 2 years and since 2002 it became a yearly event. The book fair gained an international spirit after it succeeded in attracting the biggest and most important publishing houses worldwide where it did reach 20 in the first book fair to become 473 this year representing 31 countries on 22,500 Sqm., in a 10% increase comparing to the past, reflecting the yearly role of the book fair.
